Latest recruits strengthen Management team

Consett based Derwentside College has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Zac Aldridge as Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality, and Charlie Collins as Marketing and PR Manager.

Zac (pictured left) has worked in the Further Education sector for over 15-years, latterly at Gateshead College where he was Assistant Principal. Zac has extensive experience of leading curriculum development and quality improvement. His remit at Derwentside College will include enhancing the already excellent teaching, learning and assessment and improving all aspects of the learner experience.

Zac said: “It’s a fantastic time to be joining Derwentside College. I’ve viewed from a distance the impressive journey the College has embarked on to become one of the sector’s leading voices on apprenticeships. There are many challenges facing all colleges over the next few years, but it’s clear that Derwentside College places its learners and apprentices at the heart of everything it does. I feel hugely privileged to be able to help the College with those challenges, and to enhance the already high quality training we deliver to all of our students.”

Charlie has over 17 years of professional marketing experience, including over nine years’ experience in the educational sector gathered at Durham University. Charlie has also worked in Marketing and Communications roles in the commercial sector for a number of years. In this new role, Charlie will be working to further enhance the College’s brand and reputation, positively impacting student recruitment and employer engagement.  Charlie holds a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in Marketing Management, during the completion of which he was awarded the Student of the Year accolade.

Charlie commented: “The Further Education sector is developing rapidly and this is an exciting time to be joining Derwentside College, one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in the country. As a former student of the College I’m delighted to be returning here and I’m really looking forward to contributing to its future success through enhancing and developing the College’s marketing communications activities.”
