The Opportunity
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding Maths Lecturer who has experience in the delivery of Functional Skills Maths, with knowledge or experience of GCSE delivery advantageous, to join our team. This is more than a teaching role, it's an opportunity to shape the skills, confidence, and aspirations of learners, equipping them with the mathematical understanding and problem solving abilities that will benefit them throughout their lives, in further education, employment, and everyday decision making.
What you will do?
The person appointed will be responsible for the planning and delivery of GCSE Maths and Functional Skills Maths which lead to high levels of achievement and positive progress. You will have a proven track record of excellent teaching that inspires and engages learners, with a keen desire to share your knowledge, take part in professional development and collaborate with your colleagues in order to improve the learner experience. Ideally, you will hold a relevant teaching qualification and a Maths specialism.
As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for student learning, curriculum development, pastoral care, and administration. Sharing your skills and knowledge, you will develop and maintain high levels of student retention and attendance. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons, develop and update curriculum materials, and provide pastoral care and support to students, fostering a positive learning environment. You will monitor and improve student retention and attendance rates, assess student progress and provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's performance.

This role would also likely provide anyone starting their FE teaching career access to an extra payment of £6,000 from the government, under the targeted retention incentive.

This post is permanent, and is available on a part- or full-time basis (full time is 37 hours per week). The starting salary will depend upon an individual’s level of qualifications and experience.
This post attracts a recruitment and retention premium meaning the salary is up to £39,727 per annum as a result of market conditions.
