Engineering

This two-year programme equips students with the core knowledge and practical skills required for entry into a range of design and development roles within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

A key feature of the course is a minimum of nine weeks working with an employer on an industry placement, giving students real-world experience and the opportunity to apply their learning in a professional setting.

Core Content:

  • CAD and Digital engineering
  • Design processes and sustainability
  • Materials science, engineering maths
  • Health & Safety and commercial awareness  

Occupational Specialisms:

  • Mechanical System Design
  • Technical Drawings and 3D CAD
  • Manufacturing Processes and Prototyping 

Industry Placement:

  • A minimum of 315 house (45 days/9weeks) in an industry relevant setting

Entry Requirements:

  • You will typically need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths. However, individual circumstances may be considered at enrolment

Progression Routes:

  • Higher-level Apprenticeship
  • University; Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design
  • Employment in roles such as; CAD Technician, Mechanical Design Technician
