Derwentside College Welcomes Local MP Liz Twist

Monday

We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Liz Twist, to Derwentside College on Friday, 16th January for an engaging and informative visit with our students.

During her time at the College, Liz spoke openly about a day in the life of a Member of Parliament, offering valuable insight into her work in Parliament and her role as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention. She also shared her personal background and the motivations that led her to pursue a career in politics, giving students a fascinating perspective on the journey to public office.

Students were highly engaged throughout the session, asking thoughtful and insightful questions and making the most of the opportunity to learn first-hand about life in Parliament and the impact of political leadership.

We would like to thank Liz Twist for taking the time to visit Derwentside College and for delivering such an inspiring and informative session. Her visit provided our students with a unique opportunity to broaden their understanding of civic life and future career pathways.
