Derwentside College is thrilled to announce the successful bid for a £1.2 million T-Level Capital Fund, aimed at enhancing and modernising its facilities in the fields of Construction, Digital, Education & Childcare, Engineering & Manufacturing, and Health & Science.  The substantial investment will enable the College to provide state-of-the-art learning environments for T-Level learners, equipping them with the skills needed for rewarding careers in these crucial industries.

The ambitious project, scheduled for completion in time for September 2024, will enable Derwentside College to welcome its first cohorts of T-Level learners in Construction, Digital, Engineering & Manufacturing and Health & Science.  With a focus on practical, industry-relevant education, the College aims to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world experience.

Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships, and Higher Education, Robert Halfon, expressed his enthusiasm for the T-Level programme.  He stated, "This boost of over £100 million is our latest investment in T Levels. These are robust, high-quality technical qualifications providing a unique ladder of opportunity for students to gain both classroom knowledge and on-the-job experience."

Mr. Halfon continued, "From robotics suites that support digital T Levels to simulated health wards where students can get a real sense of what it means to work in Healthcare Science, T Levels will support young people into rewarding careers and back businesses with the skills of the future."

Principal and Chief Executive of Derwentside College, Chris Todd, expressed his excitement about the transformative impact of the T-Level Capital Fund on the College's facilities and the opportunities it will create for students.  He said, "This significant investment reaffirms our commitment to providing exceptional learning experiences and preparing our students for the future workforce.  The improved facilities will enable us to deliver cutting-edge education, combining classroom theory with practical application, ensuring our learners are ready to thrive in their chosen industries."

With the support of the T-Level Capital Fund, Derwentside College is poised to become a hub of innovation and excellence, driving the development of highly skilled professionals in Construction, Digital, Education & Childcare, Engineering & Manufacturing, and Health & Science.
