Through supporting the team we look forward to continuing our engagement with the local community and to help raise the profile of the Football Club and the excellent work they do in encouraging young people into sport. Both the College and the Football Club are part of the fabric of the local area and we wish the team all the very best for the season ahead.”

John Chirnside, Blackfyne Under 15 Manager said: “On behalf of the Football Club I would like to thank Derwentside College for sponsoring our Under 15 team for the upcoming season.  Our community led club provides opportunities for young people to play, learn and enjoy their football, and the support of the College is greatly appreciated.”

“Everyone at Blackfyne JFC is looking forward to working in partnership with Derwentside College over the coming months.  It's fantastic to be associated with the College as we share the same goal of developing the next generation to achieve the best they can in both sport and life.“

The 2018/19 season sees Blackfyne Football Club celebrate their 20th anniversary and the club has steadily grown to now provide teams for over 100 players across seven different age groups and at two different locations.  The aim of the club is to provide the opportunity for children to play competitive football in a safe environment with the emphasis on fun, enjoyment, and teamwork.

Derwentside College has a proud record of supporting the local community having sponsored the Party in Park in July 2018, hosted visits by Age Concern North East, and supported the Consett Community Trust for a number of years.
