If you are looking for a rewarding career, have an artistic

opportunity to train in ‘Hair Works’ - the College’s modern
hair salon, where you can put your creativity into practice.
These courses are practical and cover many technical skills,
such as cutting, colouring, perming and the latest fashion
styling techniques. With such a vast array of skills you will be
able to gain a successful career in the hairdressing industry.

After finishing
school I managed to
gain a position at my
local hairdressing salon.
I wanted to gain
qualifications at the
same time as working
and Derwentside College
was recommended to
me by a client as a great
place to learn. I’ve learnt
so much working in the
salon and on day-release
at College, as I’m
constantly learning new
techniques. I also love
the variety of my role, as
well as meeting new
clients on a daily basis.
I hope to have my own
salon one day.
