Access to Higher Education - Health Pathway

The Access to Higher Education Health diploma is ideal for students wishing to study a diverse range of subjects within healthcare.

No specific prior qualifications are needed.  The offer of a place on this course will be subject to a satisfactory interview process and successful completion of initial assessments in Literacy (level 2) and Numeracy (level 1).  There will be an assessment in the early stages of the course to ensure suitability for continued progression.

Students can expect a broad learning experience and dynamic lessons.  As well as traditional lectures and seminars, learners will engage in individual research tasks, peer work, discussions, scientific investigations and other interactive forms of study.

Learners can expect to be assessed in a number of different ways; assessment methods include exams, essays, reports, presentations, portfolios, magazine articles, scientific investigations and projects.

Studying the Access Health diploma will allow students progression onto a wide range of degrees, these degrees represent a sample only and other progression opportunities are possible: 

  • Adult Nursing

  • Biomedical Sciences

  • Mental Health Nursing

  • Forensic Science

  • General Nursing

  • Paediatric Nursing

  • Radiography

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Paramedic Practice/Science

  • Midwifery

Full Time provision for 16-18 year olds is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying their first Level 3, the course fee is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying a second Level 3 qualification and learners aged 24+ studying at Level 3 can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to fund course fees.  You can discuss this further at your college interview.
