Engineering Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

This qualification is designed for learners who want to develop and progress their skills and abilities from level 2, or begin their studies at level 3 in advanced manufacturing technologies and techniques to promote themselves for further study within higher education or for job applications.

The object of this qualification is to equip them for jobs and apprenticeships in these industries in the near future. The learners will learn manufacturing and engineering practical skills across a range of areas that may include, machining, electrical, fabrication and CAD along with completing a level 3 BTEC Diploma in Engineering.

Who is this qualification for?

  • Learners who are looking to find a career in an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Learners who wish to progress their skills and abilities that will lead them onto a level 3 apprenticeship
  • Learners who wish to undertake a Level 3 qualification in preparation for study at a higher level, HNC. Those who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills in advanced manufacturing and engineering

Learners must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.  However, learners must have the potential to achieve all aspects of the qualification.  In particular, learners should be able to demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.  It is preferable that learners wishing to undertake this qualification have as a minimum grade 4 in Maths and English.

The course will consist of lectures, practical demonstrations and opportunities for learners to develop their theoretical and practical skills with assessments and tasks.

The assessment involves practical assessments and theory assignments.
The qualification overall will be graded using the P/M/D/D* grading system. 

This would allow progression from level 3 to Higher National Qualifications and then to Degree level.

Opportunities for Apprenticeships as Engineering Technician, Maintenance and Operations Technicians, Engineering Operatives, Manufacturing and Design Engineering.

Full Time provision for 16-18 year olds is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying their first Level 3, the course fee is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying a second Level 3 qualification and learners aged 24+ studying at Level 3 can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to fund course fees.  You can discuss this further at your college interview.
