These qualifications provide the practical and technical skills needed to become a craftsperson, this is college based course which gives you real life hands on experience needed to successful work in the construction industry. You will learn to lay block paving, paving slabs, concrete, kerbs and drainage. 

A recognised level 1 construction qualification in the trade area, GCSE C’s in Maths & English or relevant Functional Skills would be advantageous.

Throughout the length of the course you will learn about the Construction industry in a number of ways which include practical workshop sessions, online learning and theory sessions where you will learn about all the aspects of construction crafts.

These qualifications are assessed by trade competent staff you will be observed in practical situations demonstrating your competence of the trade.  Technical knowledge and theory will be assessed orally, with written questions or by means of knowledge assignments.  These technical courses also have online exams on health and safety and construction technology. 

After successful completion of the course you could progress onto a Construction Diploma level 3 qualification, apprenticeship or employment in your chosen career path.

Studying this course can open up opportunities to work within the construction sector.

Full Time provision for 16-18 year olds is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying their first Level 3, the course fee is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying a second Level 3 qualification and learners aged 24+ studying at Level 3 can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to fund course fees.  You can discuss this further at your college interview.
