Engineering - Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation

Engineering - Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation

This qualification allows the learner to acquire advanced underpinning knowledge and related skills of electrical installation. It does not require occupational evidence from the workplace, so is suitable for learners who currently do not work within the electrical industry (but may wish to do so).

The qualification has been adapted from the Diploma within the apprenticeship framework; therefore, successful completion of the qualification facilitates progression to the industry-recognised qualification. It provides the learner an opportunity to practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation and testing of electrical equipment together with the relevant theory of electrical installation to the current edition of the wiring regulations. The learner has the opportunity to utilise BS 7671 within some of the units and also acquire the relevant understanding of electrical science and principles.

UCAS Tariff Points: Pass - 32 Points

Learners must be at least 16 years old. For entry, learners must have the potential to achieve all aspects of the qualification.  In particular, learners should be able to demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments. This would usually be a minimum of four GCSE at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths and English or a full level 2 qualification.

The course will consist of lectures, practical demonstrations and opportunities for learners to develop their theoretical and practical skills with assessments and tasks.

The assessment involves on-screen examinations, practical assessments and theory assignments.

This would allow progression to an industry recognised electrotechnical apprenticeship qualification.
  • Level 3 Inspection and Testing
  • Level 4 Electrical design and Verification

The qualification has been adapted from the apprenticeship qualification; so facilitates progression to the Industry and an apprenticeship.
