Access to Higher Education - Education Pathway

The Access to Higher Education (Education) diploma is ideal for students wishing to study a range of subjects within education.

No specific prior qualifications are needed.  The offer of a place on this course will be subject to a satisfactory interview process and successful completion of initial assessments in Literacy (level 2) and Numeracy (level 1).  There will be an assessment in the early stages of the course to ensure suitability for continued progression.

Students can expect a broad learning experience and dynamic lessons.  As well as traditional lectures and seminars, learners will engage in individual research tasks, peer work, discussions and other interactive forms of study.

Learners can expect to be assessed in a number of different ways; assessment methods include exams, essays, reports, presentations, academic posters, microteaching and timelines.

Studying the Access Education diploma will allow students progression onto a wide range of degrees, these degrees represent a sample only and other progression opportunities are possible:

  • Primary Education

  • Secondary Education

  • Youth Work

  • Childhood Studies

Students following this pathway could be able to enjoy a range of future careers.  To give just a sample of career opportunities, examples of future employment roles include:

  • Primary Teacher

  • Secondary Teacher

  • Youth Worker

  • Post-16 Lecturer

The College provides a range of financial support to assist learners undertaking a programme of study.  The support is designed to help learners with the greatest financial needs and is subject to specific eligibility criteria being met.

Full Time provision for 16-18 year olds is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying their first Level 3, the course fee is FREE.
Learners aged 19+ studying a second Level 3 qualification and learners aged 24+ studying at Level 3 can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to fund course fees.  You can discuss this further at your college interview.
