There are two elements to the fund:

Mainstream Bursary

Learners who are in receipt of or they are the dependent

of someone in receipt of;

An income-based benefit

A low income

can claim help with college-related expenses

Vulnerable Bursary

The Vulnerable Bursary is an enhanced payment for learners in the following defined

vulnerable groups;

Learners in care or a care leaver

Learners receiving Income Support or Universal Credit

Learners in receipt of Employment Support Allowance or Universal Credit and Disability

Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments.

What could I be entitled

to?

Travel

Assistance with travel costs for those using public transport or their own vehicle, is

available for all eligible learners.

Care to Learn

Care to Learn is a government funded scheme offering free childcare for young learners

aged 16 to 19. Further information is available at

Additional funding is also available to support learners

16-19 Bursary Fund

The 16-19 Bursary Fund provides support for young people to stay in education and

training after the age of 16. The fund offers assistance with travel expenses, meals,

specialist equipment and clothing, course trips and other associated costs.
