An 'outstanding' success rate ...

Derwentside College is rated outstanding for learner achievement

Derwentside College has recently received an outstanding grade 1 from Ofsted for the examination success of its learners aged 16-18. Overall, Ofsted stated that Derwentside College is a good college with outstanding provision for 16-18 year old learners. This means that learners studying an A Level programme at the College's Lanchester Sixth Form Centre or a vocational programme, such as an Engineering Apprenticeship at the Consett Campus, can expect the very best provision - leading to an outstanding level of success.

Ofsted also found that overall teaching and support for learners was good; they applauded the College for its strong links and partnerships with employers and schools and its good provision for 14-16 year-old learners, which are referred to in the report as 'flourishing'. Individual support for all learners was also identified as a key strength of the College, as well as strong and effective leadership, which is focused on raising achievement and standards.

Albert Croney, Principal and Chief Executive of Derwentside College, said, "I am delighted with this successful outcome, which provides clear evidence that Derwentside College is a good place to learn, achieve and succeed. This excellent Ofsted report is official recognition of the outstanding work of the staff and students, as well as the employers who support the College".
