Why study Travel and Tourism?
Studying travel and tourism will provide you with an excellent springboard for a career in this industry. A wide range of employment opportunities will be available to you after your College course or your progression to university.
The BTEC Level 1 Introductory or Level 2 First Diploma course provide excellent starting points, including the study of modules in: customer service, marketing and event organisation.
On the BTEC National Programme you will be engaged in practical activities - researching travel and holiday destinations and experiencing customer service situations. Marketing and Travel Agency Operations are also studied and you will visit and analyse visitor attractions. Additional qualifications can be achieved as part of your programme, including: airline cabin crew certificate, resort representative certificate.
Further opportunities include a residential visit, trips to theme parks and work experience with a travel related organisation, for example, an airport, travel agent or visitor attraction. In the past, students have visited locations from London to York and as far away as Disneyland Resort Paris and New York.
