Why study ICT (Information Communication Technology)?
If you are interested in the ever-changing world of the IT industry, then our courses can develop your skills to seek work in a range of careers. Studying at Derwentside College ensures that you will benefit from working with excellent computer facilities, where you will use a range of software applications and study a variety of topics.
Our courses will develop your practical computer skills, as well as an understanding of how ICT is used in industry and commerce. We offer the Diploma in Digital Applications at Level 2, which covers graphics and multimedia, as well as ICT in Enterprise. Students following this programme also study technical and customer service skills. Students enrolling on the BTEC National Certificate will study more advanced modules including, developing computer games, graphics, computer animation, website design and business information systems. Students will either take the 'IT and Business' or 'Software Development' route and have the opportunity to study an add-on technical certificate, depending on the interests and ability of the group. There is a two week work placement to give students the opportunity to experience a real ICT working environment.
