Apprenticeships are Work-Based Learning Programmes available at 2 different levels:
- an Apprenticeship at Level 2
- an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3
Whatever your level of ability and achievement, we will guide you onto the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.
Apprenticeships
An Apprenticeship programme offers you the opportunity to gain
qualifications at Level 2, plus Key Skills and a Technical
Certificate appropriate to the framework you are following. You will
be linked with an employer on this programme and on successful
completion you may have the opportunity to become employed and
progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Advanced Apprenticeships
An Advanced Apprentice programme offers you the opportunity to gain
a Level 3 qualification, plus Key Skills and a Technical Certificate
appropriate to the framework you are following. These qualifications
can enable you to become one of the managers or supervisors of the
future. Some young people use an Advanced Apprenticeship as a
stepping-stone to progress to university. As an Advanced Apprentice
you must be employed from the first day of your programme and in the
area of your choice.

Apprenticeship Subjects:
Accounting
Studying an Apprenticeship in Accounting is ideal if you want to
work in an accounting or finance role immediately, but also wish to
study. The NVQ qualification teaches you new skills and broadens
your knowledge and understanding of the realistic world of work
within the Accounting sector. Whilst studying for this qualification
a minimum of part-time employment within an account office
environment is required.
Available:
Beauty Therapy
Studying on the Beauty Therapy Advanced Apprenticeship is ideal
for those learners who have studied and achieved Beauty Therapy at
Level 2 and have a desire to work within the Beauty Therapy industry
immediately, but also wish to continue their study. This course
allows you to work in a salon or a spa, as well as continue your
study to Level 3. Some of the units include: Body Massage, Indian
Head Massage and Facial Electrotherapy amongst others.

Business and Administration
Studying a Business and Administration Apprenticeship will give
you an insight into working in an administration environment and
prepare you for the world of work. Administrators play a crucial
role in organisations handling day-to-day tasks and making sure the
office runs smoothly. For those who progress to the Advanced
Apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to extend your skills
and knowledge within the workplace, whilst being supported in a
training environment.

Care
Studying an Apprenticeship in Care is an ideal route for anyone
interested in working in a health and social care environment. This
is a work-based learning programme - giving you the opportunity to
build-up the knowledge, skills and experience that you require to
work effectively and safely within this sector. The course is
perfect for those wanting to work in the following areas: Home Care
Assistant, Community Support Assistants, Healthcare Assistants and
Residential or Day Service Assistants.

Catering
Studying a Catering Apprenticeship will increase your practical
skills and enable you to acquire more knowledge about basic
preparation and cookery methods. This practical programme provides
an excellent foundation for a career in the catering industry.
Working in the College's Chapters Restaurant you will gain valuable
hands-on experience in preparing and serving dishes to suit all
dietary requirements, as well as maintaining the health and safety
of the working environment.

Childcare
Studying a Childcare Apprenticeship will give you the knowledge
and understanding of the childcare sector, as well as a nationally
recognised qualification for working with children. Some of the
interesting units you will study include : Support Children's
Development, Help Keep Children Safe and Prepare and Support
Children's Play and Learning amongst others. Learning about
supporting children with disabilities or special educational needs
is also part of this programme.

Customer Service
Studying an Apprenticeship in Customer Service is
highly-recommended if you are interested in working in a variety of
job roles, including being a receptionist, call centre adviser, an
administrator or working in a retail and commercial organisation.
You will study for a nationally recognised qualification - NVQ
Customer Service Level 2 or 3, which will equip you with the
necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to work within a variety
of job roles.

Engineering
Studying an Engineering Apprenticeship will give you the
practical skills and most up-to-date knowledge of this industry. You
will learn your expertise and techniques in the College's Centre of
Engineering Enterprise. On successful completion you may be able to
progress on to an Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship in one of the
following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Fabrication and Welding or Computer-Aided Design.

Hairdressing
Studying a Hairdressing Apprenticeship will give you a Level 2
qualification that covers the basic skills and knowledge required to
become a competent hairdresser. This course is ideal for those
interested in entering the world of hairdressing. Some of the units
include: Advice and Consulting with clients, shampoo and
conditioning of hair, cutting, styling, setting and blow-drying, as
well as reception skills and effective teamwork.
