Full-Time Programmes Explained

Selecting the right course for you...

There's never been a better time, than now, to enjoy a broader and more flexible programme of study.

With many options to choose from, we need to ensure that you select a programme to suit your individual needs. With this in mind, it is essential that you receive the correct pre-course counselling advice and guidance, before selecting a course of study. We have ensured that every course we offer has clear entry requirements, with a selection of progression routes.

Entry Requirements

Level 3
At Level 3, we offer Advanced and BTEC courses.

To join an A Level course, you will need 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English Language, Maths or Science. To Join a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma, you will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English Language, Maths or Science.

Level 2
To join a BTEC First Diploma or NVQ Level 2 course, you will need either a Level 1 qualification or 4 GCSEs at Grade D, to include English Language, Maths or Science.

Level 1
To join a Level 1 introductory course or NVQ Level 1, you will need GCSEs at grades E and F.

Entry Level
We have a selection of programmes that do not need formal qualifications, which will give you basic study skills and a step-up to the level 1 choices.

Please Note:
Some subjects/courses have additional entry requirements. This will be discussed during your interview.

GCE AS/A Levels
GCE Advanced Levels are ideal if you want to progress into higher education or employment. More details about Advanced Levels can be found here.

BTEC Introductory, First Diploma, National Certificate/Diploma
Studying and achieving a BTEC Introductory (Level 1), First Diploma (Level 2) or National Certificate/Diploma (Level 3) will provide you with a specialist vocational qualification, nationally respected and valued by industry. The full BTEC National Diploma consists of 18 units, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels and prepares you for direct entry into employment or higher education. From the First Diploma, you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 programme or into employment.

NVQs
National Vocational Qualifications are practical qualifications, which are ideal if you are wishing to take a first step towards employment within a specific field. NVQs can lead to employment, career progression or further study.

Other Specialist Qualifications
We also offer a range of specialist courses, which will prepare you for further study or progression to work. These include OCR Administration, Diploma in Digital Applications (DIDA), the CACHE Childcare qualifications, NCFE Uniformed Services and Supported Routes in Further Education.

Engineering Diploma
The Engineering Diploma is a new qualification for 14-19 year olds, which is designed to give you a foundation in engineering principles. The Diploma is a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application that will prepare you for entry into work, an apprenticeship or studying further qualifications.

Key Skills are Vital to Your Success!
All full-time learners must study Key Skills qualifications in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.

These skills are vital to success in your main studies and will also give you a head start to employment later on.

Attendance at Key Skills sessions is essential.
