The Green Pelican is a family run business based in Stanley with a loyal customer base and a warm and friendly atmosphere. To deal with the increasing business they are looking to hire a food and beverage hospitality apprentice. You will need to have a good working attitude, an interest in catering and hospitality and enjoy the buzz of working in a busy cafe. As an apprentice you will learn all the operations and responsibilities within the business such as the following:

 

Duties to include:

  • Ensure high levels of cleanliness and hygiene are met at all times, clearing and setting up tables
  • Ensure that café provides a warm and welcoming environment and that customer service is efficient and outstanding
  • Taking food orders from customers and communicate them to the kitchen
  • Help with keeping the café/restaurant area tidy
  • helping to prepare basic dishes in the kitchen
  • Cash handling, undergo training for till operations
  • Barista training
  • Helping with preparing desserts and cutting of the cakes from the counter
  • Ordering and storage of food, beverages and cleaning products applicable to your role

 

Requirements:

  • 4 GCSE’s Grades A-C including Maths & English
  • Highly motivated, energetic
  • To be enthusiastic with a flexible approach to work
  • Show commitment to achieving apprenticeship in agreed timeframe
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional approach, Maintain confidentiality

 

Hours of Work: Minimum of 30 hours per week, to be discussed at interview

Commencing Salary: Minimum of £105.00 per week, £5460.00 per annum (Salary upon application and depending upon experience)

Training to be required: NVQ Level 2 Food & Beverage, with functional skills and technical certificate

 

At all times you will be guided and supported through an Apprenticeship pathway where you will relate work activities to an assessed NVQ with your own dedicated assessor
