Job Description:

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Business Administration Apprentice to work within the Staff Bank and Agency Service Department of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be based at Bede House, Durham and Bishop Auckland Hospital from July 2018. This post is to provide a high quality and efficient administrative support to the Staff Bank and Agency Service Department and its customers.


The successful candidate will receive appropriate training and guidance to undertake the full range of clerical duties which will include:

  • To provide administrative services including answering the phone, dealing with personal and generic emails, completing correspondence, filing and scanning
  • To provide regular updates regarding workloads to the Staff Bank Team Leaders to ensure that deadlines and targets are met
  • To carry out designated duties in line with Standard Operating Procedures and performance management targets
  • To be a key point of contact for Care Groups and Corporate Services for Temporary Workers
  • To contribute to the on-going development of the Staff Bank including suggestions for improvement
  • To ensure accurate data entries into systems used by the Staff Bank Team including Electronic Staff Record, Healthroster and BANKStaff
  • To assist with the booking of all temporary workers including medical locums via email SMS and electronic systems
  • To perform tasks associated with the Trust’s Nurse Bank and Healthcare Roster systems
  • To maintain office supplies and stationery through the Cardea purchasing system
  • To book available staff into vacant shifts using Allocate electronic systems
  • To call into daily operations calls when required to give and receive information about vacant and filled shifts
  • To book venues, send meeting invites and take minutes when required
  • Any other duties as appropriate



  • 3 GCSEs at C or above to include Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
  • Good working knowledge of ICT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate work
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload with excellent presentation, organisation and timekeeping skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with professionals, CDDFT staff, Government Bodies and external agencies
  • Understand importance of confidentiality and information governance and abide by this at all times
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with a diligent approach to work ethics


Commencing Salary: £7,215.00 per annum (£138.75 per week)

Working Week: 37.5 hours of work, Monday - Friday
