2015-16

Working in Partnership with Durham County Council

A successful partnership between Derwentside College and Durham County Council

has enabled 40 members of the Council’s staff from the Regeneration and Economic

Development Service to gain an invaluable range of skills in the area of leadership and

management.

Andy Palmer,

Head of Strategic, Programmes and Performance at Durham County Council,

said: “Our partnership with Derwentside College is vital as it has enabled our staff to access a

wide range of academic qualifications in Management and Business Administration.”

Senior Resources & Development Officer, for Regeneration and Economic

Development, added: “In my role it can sometimes be frustrating finding the right training &

development opportunities for staff, but over the last 2 years we have been fortunate to build

a fantastic working relationship with Derwentside College. This successful partnership has

enabled our staff to continue with their professional development but also significantly improve

their employability skills at the same time.”

said: “We want to ensure our learners have access to outstanding opportunities to secure

employment and maximise their career potential. We are delighted that this successful
